Nexusguard’s Managed DDoS Mitigation Platform helps communication service providers tap into the growing DDoS mitigation market.

Nexusguard, a leading cloud-based distributed denial of service (DDoS) security solutions provider, has been identified as a Sample Vendor in the Gartner Hype Cycle for Network Security, 2020, in the DDoS Defense category and Gartner Hype Cycle for IT in the Middle East, 2020, in the DDoS Defense category.

According to Nexusguard’s Q1 2020 Threat Report, DDoS attacks rose more than 542% in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the previous quarter. DDoS attacks have become an escalating worldwide risk given that attack trends such as “bits and pieces attacks” and “bypass attacks” continue to evolve in sophistication and complexity. The shifting threat landscape has prompted DDoS mitigation vendors to continue to evolve their products and add additional detection techniques to thwart more complex and varied DDoS attacks.

“DDoS mitigation services should be a standard part of business continuity/disaster recovery planning, and they should be included in all internet service procurements when the business depends on the availability of internet connectivity. Most enterprises should look at detection and mitigation services that are available from communications service providers (CSPs), hosters or DDoS security-as-a-service specialists (for example, “scrubbing center” providers). To defend against complex, application-based attacks, a hybrid solution of local protection (on-premises DDoS appliances) and cloud-based mitigation services is a strong option,” Lawrence Orans, vice president at Gartner, writes in Gartner's Hype Cycle for Network Security, 2020.

Due to the ever-changing DDoS threat, CSPs have also begun to evolve their business strategies by tapping into the growing DDoS mitigation market to not only increase revenue, but also to elevate their brand position to meet customers’ growing needs for effective cybersecurity products and services.

“Building, maintaining and operating DDoS protection technology, much less to say delivering it as a service, can be very expensive and challenging. It would potentially take years for a CSP to productize and deliver Managed DDoS Protection as-a-service to complement its core offerings. To simplify DDoS protection for CSPs, Nexusguard’s Managed DDoS Mitigation Platform was launched in 2018. This solution helps CSPs transform to a Managed DDoS protection as-a-service provider in as little as three months,” said Andy Ng, CEO for Nexusguard.
Nexusguard’s Managed DDoS Mitigation Platform, as part of its Transformational Alliance Partner (TAP) program, was designed primarily with CSPs in mind to help address the following challenges:
1. High total cost of ownership arising from the number of boxes or hardware devices needed and scalability issues due to limited shelf life of technologies;
2. The fallacy that an on-premise solution is the answer to stopping ever-growing attacks;
3. Productizing security services and generating returns on investment from the technology.
